Iron Helm are a set of rules for wargaming the sword and spear age. The rules have new innovative mechanics that have sprung from 30 years of wargaming these periods and the desire to have a rule system that is easy to learn and play but still gives a good historical feel and the ability to step into the world of fantasy. They are different, they are not ‘weapon type’ dominated, nor do they use intricate add on’s to die scores and results or combat charts. The winner isn't decided purely by just killing a pre set number of stands, there is more to deciding a battle than that. The terrain system and movement isn't chess like calculable so that micro movement and positioning does not dominate a game. Iron Helm offers players some leeway to classify their troops how they want them as the classification method and points system has been designed to get away from ridged army lists and allow very fine tuned forces. Iron Helm takes wargaming on a different route and to a new level. |
